    2. CROSSING GUARD LAWS CVC 2815: Stop for Crossing Guard Stop Sign: Requires vehicles to stop and remain stopped for the Crossing Guard stop sign while the Crossing Guard is crossing students and until the Crossing Guard returns to a place of safety (Sidewalk). It also requires that both motorist and pedestrians obey the directions of the Crossing Guard. Pedestrians are to wait on the sidewalk until told its safe to cross Cars to wait when directed by the Crossing Guard until told its safe to proceed. CVC 21950a: Pedestrians right of way in crosswalk: Failure to yield right of way to pedestrians in crosswalk. CVC 21950b: Pedestrians yield right of way to vehicles so close to be a hazard: Failure of pedestrian to yield the right of way to a vehicle approaching that is so close as to be a hazard. (A vehicle is still required to yield for a pedestrian, but a pedestrian cant run up to a crosswalk and run out in front of the car at the last minute so the car isn't unable to stop safely.) CVC 21970a: Blocking crosswalks and sidewalks with a vehicle: No person shall stop a vehicle unnecessarily in a manner that causes a vehicle to block a marked or unmarked crosswalk or sidewalk.

    3. CROSSING GUARD ETIQUETTE DRIVERS Stop for crossing guard holding the stop sign and remained stop until the crossing guard steps onto the side walk This is to ensure that an a child, unseen to the driver and crossing guard doesnt run into the crosswalk and get hit. It allows for the safety of the crossing guard. If the cars start to go, it leaves everyone wondering if the driver is going to hit a pedestrian or the crossing guard. Think about if you would like someone to be driving through the crosswalk with you in it or you walking your kids? CVC 2815 requires you to remain stopped until everyone reaches a point of safety. (The Sidewalk) PEDESTRIANS If youre crossing at the crosswalk, wait on the sidewalk for the crossing guard to stop traffic and tell you that its safe to cross. Remember the crossing Guard is there for your safety. The Crossing Guard is trying to cross you and the children and still allow for traffic to get through. Remember that your children will follow your example of obeying or disobeying the crossing guard. Dont teach your children to cross in the middle of the street. Teach them to cross in the crosswalk with the crossing guard Remember CVC 2815 requires you to obey the Crossing Guards Directions.

    4. TRAFFIC LAWS FOR SCHOOL 21952 CVC: Yield right of way to pedestrians on sidewalks: Before crossing a sidewalk the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way to any pedestrian approaching on the sidewalk. 21954 CVC: Pedestrian outside the crosswalk: Pedestrians outside the crosswalk shall yield to all traffic so close as to be a hazard. 21461 CVC: Disobeying a regulatory sign or signal: It is illegal to disobey any regulatory sign or signal (No u-turns signs, etc. This covers the no left turn sign from the drop off lots, and the no right turn on red signal when children are present) 21951 CVC: Vehicles stopped for pedestrians: If a vehicle is stopped for a pedestrian all vehicles to the rear of that vehicle shall also stop and not pass the stopped vehicle. 22103 CVC: U turn in a residential district: It is illegal to make a u turn in a residential district when a vehicle is approaching in either direction within 200 feet. 22500c CVC: Stopping, Standing, or Parking in a safety zone: It is illegal to stop, stand, or park in a red curb or signed no parking zone. 22500b CVC: Stopping, Standing, or Parking in a Crosswalk: It is illegal to stop, stand, or park in a crosswalk.
