Born in February 4th1913 • Her childhood was lonely • Lived in Tuskegee, Alabama • Her parents were slaves • Rosa went to the local school for African - American children where her mother was a teacher • Rosa`s mother wanted Rosa to get a high school education but this wasn`t easy for an African -American girl living in Alabama in the 1920`s.   3. She grew up in a farm • Mother taught her to read at a very early age • In the farm, she lived with her father, mother, and her brother. • Her mother was a teacher and her father was a carpenter. Family Life

Parks worked for the NAACP, to fight for equal rights for black people • On December 1, 1955, Park broke the law • Her crime was to take an empty seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama • In 1955, segregation laws in some states required separate seats for blacks and whites on busses, in restaurants and in other public places • Stood for racial equality by refusing to give up her seat to a white man. Parks sat quietly while the driver called the police • “People always say I didn`t give up my seat because I was tired but this isn`t true” Parks said. ’’ The only tired I was, was tired of giving in.
