This document outlines the preliminary schedule for the PXIE SSR1 cryomodule, emphasizing critical milestones and project assumptions as of October 18, 2011. Key highlights include projected beam capabilities, throughput limitations in testing, and detailed stages of cavity processing and inspection. Timelines for cavity chemistry at ANL, assembly at ANL, and hydrogen degassing at FNAL are noted. The draft indicates an initial completion projection for February 28, 2014, while acknowledging that many details are still pending clarification.

SSR1 Cryomodule Schedule for PXIEFirst Draft Mark Champion October 18, 2011
Assumptions (Champion, Ristori) • PXIE Overall Completion Milestone (Nagaitsev, Oct. 04, 2011) • Oct 2016: Beam through b=0.1 , 0.2 CM at ~15 MeV with nearly final parameters (1 mA cw, 5 mA peak, arbitrary bunch chopping) • VTS and STF throughput limited to ~2 tests / month each for SSR1 cavities. • QC inspection time will require ~2 weeks / cavity. • Visual inspection, dimensional checks, vacuum leak testing, and RF measurements • The first two cavities will receive bulk chemistry at ANL; the remainder may be processed at AES. • Light chemistry, high-pressure rinsing, and assembly to be performed at ANL. • Hydrogen degassing and low-temperature bake to be performed at FNAL. • Jacketing operations on the first cavity will start not sooner than March 2012. • Jacketing of second cavity to start only after successful testing of first jacketed cavity. • Tuners (whatever design) will be available in May 2012 for installation. • Will need to process & test 9 cavities in order to have 8 good cavities for CM.
Comments / Conclusions • This schedule is only a first draft; many details are missing • For example, nothing has been included for solenoids • The critical path will include processing and testing of the cavities. • There appears to be ample time for the cryomodule design and parts procurement. • Initial Projection: CM completion Feb. 28, 2014 • More details to be added in the coming weeks.
