APS AAHEP6 Update Mark Doyle November 15, 2011 CERN
New Submissions Server • Continue to support direct submission from arXiv • Collect information about all authors • Name • Email address • Institution/Affiliations • New institutional database – based on Ringgold identifiers – bridge between subscribing institutions and authors/referees
ORCID • APS an ORCID Launch Partner • Launched on October 16 • ~350 APS users have added their ORCID ID to our editorial database, expect 1000 or more by end of year • Still need to make a marketing push (waiting for some basic functionality to be filled out)
SCOAP3 and APS • APS answered tender offer • CC-BY license (like most, if not all, publishers) • Several APS journals included in SCOAP3 • Physical Review D – fully covered (Type 1) • Physical Review C – hybrid (Type 2) • Physical Review Letters – not included (will continue to work with CERN though) • Open questions: Metadata/data delivery, capturing arXiv information accurately
Data delivery • Full text data delivery to INSPIRE and ADS • Using BagIt format for interchange • Working with Mendeley and Microsoft Academic Live search
Miscellaneous • APS was publisher of PDG’s Review of Particle Physics this year • PRX added to Web of Science indexing • Delivery of arXiv id/DOI to arXiv (but not yet used by arXiv)
