  1. HEROIN By: Taylor Ackerman and Lauren Merkel

  2. What Is Heroin? Heroin is a highly addictive drug that is a powdery substance, usually white-ish. Heroin is illegal, but is still used by addicts everywhere. Heroin is made from morphine, which is a powerful pain reliever produced from poppy plants.

  3. Short Term Effects Using Heroin can make you experience pain but you won’t feel it because the drug suppresses it. Also, using heroin majorly slows down breathing. Sometimes breathing slows down so much that you can die. While using Heroin you typically don’t think straight, because the drug messes with your brain.

  4. Long Term Effects Using Heroin can infect your blood vessels and heart valves. You can also get abscesses and other small tissue infections. You may begin to have troubles with your lungs, kidneys or liver. Also, if while on Heroin you are not safe about it you could get blood viruses such as AIDS or hepatitis.

  5. Heroin Addiction Studies prove that about one-fourth of people who try Heroin become addicted. If you are a user of Heroin, you will probably experience tolerance for it. This means that you will need more of the drug for the same results. When using Heroin, it is very easy to overdose which is a deadly risk. One of the main reasons that Heroin is highly addictive is because heroin enters the brain very quickly. Becoming addicted to Heroin isn’t the only problem, people can easily depend on Heroin in their lifestyle as well.
