Parchment (Transcript Request) www.parchment.com • Seniors will be given their parchment registration code during either their senior English class or during homeroom • ALL students are REQUIRED to use this account to request ALL transcripts including those being sent to colleges, scholarship committees, insurance companies, child support offices, etc. NO Paper Transcripts will be printed. • Students may also request a Self View using this site so they can keep an eye on their transcript. • Questions about transcripts should be directed to Mrs. Coomer (registrar) or Mrs. Parks.

  4. SCHOLARSHIPS: Spend time researching and applying for scholarships! Scholarships are out there, you just have to search for them! • Turn ALL scholarships into Mrs. Parks (even if you are not accepting them) • Letters of Recommendation: • Provide Mrs. Parks with a resume or brag sheet (can be informal) and allow up to 2 weeks for the letter to be written. • Provide Mrs. Parks with an envelope and stamp and address for where the letter should be mailed.

  5. www.kheaa.org • KEES Money (Check your account NOW) • To be eligible for a KEES yearly GPA award, a high school student must: • Be a U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident. • Be a Kentucky resident. You are eligible if your legal residence remains Kentucky while you attend the U.S. Congressional Page School or participate in an approved foreign educational exchange program. You are eligible if your parent or guardian maintains legal residence in Kentucky while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. • Earn at least a 2.5 GPA in any year of high school while meeting the KEES curriculum requirements. • Attend and graduate from a certified Kentucky high school or other approved high school. • Not be a convicted felon.

  6. High School GPA Calculation 4.0 point scale A = 4.0 F = 0.0 The student’s grade point average for the academic year is calculated using eachgrade awarded forallcourses taken during the academic year.

  7. Calculating Awards Students who meet the eligibility requirements will be awarded KEES • Amount based upon each qualifying year’s GPA of 2.50 or higher • Ranges from $125 to $500 per year

  8. Calculating Awards Example – Mickey Mouse 9th grade GPA - 4.00 $500 10th grade GPA - 3.80 $450 11th grade GPA - 3.75 $437 12th grade GPA - 3.50 $375 Highest ACT score -26 $428 TOTAL $2,190

  9. Award Notices KHEAA sends an award notice after annual data is loaded. • High school graduates • Underclass students(prior year’s 9th, 10th, 11th graders) Parents of incoming freshmen receive a letter and KEES brochure describing the KEES program.

  10. Important Reminder PLEASE . . . Don’t forget to update addresses! • Each year, approximately 20% of KEES award notices are returned to KHEAA due to incorrect addresses. • Providing a current address is a great way to help KHEAA save costs . . . and ensure your students receive the most recent updates on KEES and financial aid programs that may benefit them.

  11. Zip Access at www.kheaa.com Students can access their KEES account anytime. Get your students involved with checking their account information prior to graduation. • Verify the correct Social Security number • Verify date of birth • Verify yearly grades and award amounts • Verify the highest ACT or SAT score on file

  12. Using a KEES Award Students may use their KEES awards at any participating college or university in Kentucky. Includes: • 4-year public and private institutions • All of the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) Does not include: • Beauty and barbering schools • Institutions offering only sectarian courses.

College Visits: • Seniors are given 2 college visits during the school day • It is recommended they take advantage of off days such as Fall Break to allow for more opportunities • When you go on a college visit, get a letter from the college and turn it into the ATTENDANCE OFFICE for an excused day • College Visits DO NOT have to be prearranged with BCHS.

  14. Non-Accredited Colleges • BE CAREFUL! • Credits WILL NOT and DO NOT have to transfer to an accredited school • Very Expensive

  15. ACT ACT FEE WAIVERS: See Mrs. Parks or Mrs. Meyers Students on Free/Reduced Lunch can have 2 fee waivers

  17. Senior Requirements for Graduation: • I am Involved Card: See Mr. Schlotman • Senior Exit Interview (usually are held in April) • All fees must be current and paid prior to graduation in order to participate • Keep an eye on your attendance. • PASS YOUR CLASSES!
