Exploring Asia: A Math Journey Through Countries and Cultures

In our project, we planned an exciting journey across Asia, choosing various countries to research. Each student focused on a specific country, gathering information about its area, population, and geographical features. We calculated travel times between our chosen destinations, factoring in breaks, and created graphs to visualize the population and area of each country. Finally, we applied our math skills to budget a holiday for two adults and two children to one of the countries, experiencing firsthand how travel expenses can add up.

  3. What countries we chose • Turkey – Catrin • Iran - Nyree • Afganistan – Macauley • Pakistan – Robbie • India – Jessica • Bangladesh – Hannah • Burma – Mrs MacDonald • Thailand – Nicky • Malaysia - Angus

  4. What we did next…… • We calculated the time it would take to cross our chosen countries with breaks in between. • We drew graphs of the population and area of all the countries in Asia, apart from India, it was too big.
