Feasts in middle ages. We know a little about art of cookery of those times. When the noble people(seniors) live in castles and have knights to protect themselves Literature, mainly epos, and some paintings can give us some knowledge of what food they used to eat.

  1. Feasts in middle ages

  2. We know a little about art of cookery of those times • When the noble people(seniors) live in castles and have knights to protect themselves • Literature, mainly epos, and some paintings can give us some knowledge of what food they used to eat.

  3. The main food of rich people was meat • Hunting • Poultry

  4. Kinds of meat • Pork (pigs), different kinds of deer, wild boar( кабан), fermale quail( перепелка), pheasant( фазан), partridge (курапатка), goose, chicken, peacock, swan etc. • But they never eat horse flesh because horses were used for work, lamb because sheep they gave wool and ducks because they were supposed uneaten those times.

  5. Fish • They also eat a lot of fish • Fresh, salted, smoked

  6. They also have different pies and bread, even some tasty and sweety thing!!

  7. Feasts lasted for about 1,5-2 hours • There were wine yards everywhere as the most popular drink was wine. • Fruit Guests and hosts could eat fruit in the gardens during going outs for a walk.

  8. Culture of Feasts • Always only white table cloth • No forks, no spoons, only knives • Meat were put on a big piece of bread • Liquid food served in a bowl with handles for two persons, they could sip it in turn • For wine there were a wine bowl (cup)
