  2. Bell Work: • What do the letters a, c, t, and g stand for in the DNA molecule? • Adenine, Cytosine, Thymine, Guanine

  3. Review: • The dominant condition of a characteristic could be represented by: • RR, Rr, and rr • RR and Rr • RR and rr • Rr and rr

  4. The trade-offs in choosing to be tested for a genetic disease include: • you might find out you have the disease • it may become difficult to get health insurance • both A and B • there are no trade-offs with this decision

  5. 2-23-11 Objective: • I will complete the construction of my DNA model.

  6. (Yesterday) Task: • Write A for adenine on the orange pieces. 2. Write T for thymine on the purple pieces. 3. Write C for cytosine on the yellow pieces. 4. Write G for guanine on the green pieces.

  7. 5. Cut the DNA pieces out and glue them together: • Adenine (orange) goes with Thymine (purple) • Cytosine (yellow) goes with Guanine (green)

  8. Glue those pieces on the blue “ladders” about 5cm apart, but make sure all of your pieces fit. • Once all that is complete, make sure you have written a characteristic on each piece of “DNA” ladder. • Twist your ladder and write your name on it! • Show Mrs. Guerra for a grade!

  9. If you are finished with your model, please read pages 68-69 in the Polar Bear book and answer questions 1-6.
