  5. Migrate • Migration- when animals moving from one region to another and then back again.  • Some birds will fly to warmer places for the winter months. • Birds that migrate would not be able to survive in cold winters. Why do you think this might be?

  6. Migrate • Animals migrate for different reasons.  • better climate • better food • safe place to live • safe place to raise young • go back to the place they were born.

  7. Adapt • Some animals will adapt to their surroundings by growing a thicker coat or use camouflage by changing their color.

  8. Rabbits • Rabbits, such as the arctic hare, change colour in the winter and spring

  9. Weasels • Weasels, such as the short tailed weasel named the Ermine, change colour in the winter and spring

  10. Why? • Why do you think that animals change colour in the winter and spring?

  11. Why? • Their camouflage makes it hard for enemies to see them.  

  12. Surviving Winter • All animals have a way to survive the winter.
