Reading • The book banding system that Hurst Park uses is closely linked with the National Curriculum • Comprehension is hugely important and we will share some of the questions that support this with you in the yellow books • We aim for every child to have been read with every day during year 1
Phonics • National Phonics Screening Test in June for Year One • Meeting about it later in the year • Phonics taught using Jolly Phonics and Letters and Sounds • We aim for the children to do Phonics focused activities every day
Homework • Reading homework will be sent home this week • Mathletics homework will start after half term • Homework Policy on website
FAST Maths sessions will start once a week after half term where the children will be tested on their Key Instant Recall Facts. • We will use a challenge sheet to test the children which will be relevant to the child’s ability. • The children will be given a certain time limit during which to complete the test. • This will come home on a weekly basis so you can see what they need to practise next or continue to practise if working on the same facts.
