  2. A diamond on a red field represents the only place in North America where diamonds have been discovered and mined. The twenty-five white stars around the diamond mean that Arkansas was the twenty-fifth state to join the Union. The top of four stars in the center represents that Arkansas was a member of the Confederate States during the Civil War. The other three stars represent Spain, France and the United States, countries that had earlier ruled the land that includes Arkansas.

The official statutes of the state of Arkansas describe the state seal as follows: It shall be the duty of the Governor to procure a seal for the State of Arkansas, which shall present the following impressions, devices, and emblems, to wit: An eagle at the bottom, holding a scroll in its beak, inscribed "Regnant Populous", a bundle of arrows in one claw and an olive branch in the other; a shield covering the breast of the eagle, engraved with a steamboat at top, a beehive and plow in the middle, and sheaf of wheat at the bottom; the Goddess of Liberty at the top, holding a wreath in her right hand, a pole in the left hand, surmounted by a liberty cap, and surrounded by a circle of stars outside of which is a circle of rays; the figure of an angel on the left, inscribed "Mercy", and a sword on the right hand, inscribed "Justice", surrounded with the words "Seal of the State of Arkansas".   9. The Capitol Building stands 230 feet tall featuring a circular central drum tower that is capped with a dome and cupola. The building was built over a century ago as a replica of the US Capitol and has been used in many movies as a stand in. The construction started in 1899 with George Mann and ended in 1915 with Cass Gilbert. Located on the grounds are several monuments including monuments to veterans, police, Confederate soldiers, Confederate women and a Confederate war prisoners marker.

  11. University of Arkansas The University of Arkansas, often shortened to U of A, UARK, or just UA, is a public, co-educational, land-grant, space-grant, research university. It is categorized by the Carnegie Foundation as a high-activity Research University.[9] It is the flagship[10] campus of the University of Arkansas System and is located in Fayetteville, Arkansas.[11] Founded as Arkansas Industrial University in 1871, its present name was adopted in 1899 and classes were first held in February 1872. It is noted for its strong architecture, agriculture (particularly animal science and poultry science),[12] creative writing, history, Middle Eastern Studies and business programs.[13]
