God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

And since you are his child, God has made you his heir • Started by Jesus. • Bought freedom for us! • So he could adopt us. • So now we’re royalty. • A different way of life. • A free way of life! • A noble way of life!

If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!" (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to decrees, such as, "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!" (which all refer to things destined to perish with use)—in accordance with the commandments and teachings of men? Colossians 2:20-23 (NASB) These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.   33. Christians: Which Direction to Go? Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”Gal. 4:6 Therefore you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.Gal. 4:7

  35. Christians: Which Direction to Go? Surely you remember that I was sick when I first brought you the Good News. But even though my condition tempted you to reject me, you did not despise me or turn me away… Galatians 4:13-14

  37. Christians: Which Direction to Go? Where is that joyful and grateful spirit you felt then? I am sure you would have taken out your own eyes and given them to me if it had been possible. Galatians 4:15 (NLT)
