Exporting Pedons from NASIS • Load the placeholder record and then load your selected set of pedons • Load placeholder • Enter placeholder as the User Site ID. • Enter * at the NASIS Site Name and Group prompts
Exporting Pedons from NASIS • Run the query again with the same target tables once placeholder is loaded to load the data you want to export • Load your selected set of site, pedons, and transect data • Enter a User Site ID identifier, you can use wildcards (*MT645* or *06MT645*, etc.) • Enter your NASIS Site Name and Group
Exporting Pedons from NASIS • Check that the pedons loaded are the set that you want to export • Go to the NASIS Report Manager and navigate to either NASIS Site MLRA 17 or MLRA 04 • Run the report called _WinPedon_DataDump_AK or _WinPedon_DataDump_MT, depending on which NASIS site you go to. • This report calls a series of sub reports and creates a flat-file of all the data tables • Use the Save Ascii option and save the output of this report as text file .txt extension
Importing Pedons from NASIS • Open Pedon PC • Go to the Setup Menu, then go to the Import Data menu • Select Import Data File from NASIS • This will open the Import NASIS Data File form • Browse to the location of the text file (MT645_pedon_datadump.txt) generated by the _WinPedon_DataDump_ report, that you saved on your system
Importing Pedons from NASIS • Click the Import button and the data will be imported table by table • The import process takes the larger flat-file and breaks it into the individual pedon data tables • These tables are placed in a folder called NASIS_DataDump_tables at the same location the import text file resides at. • The process will imports the tables one by one. • Check your imported data – to make sure the proper number of records came through. One way to do this is to open the site, pedon, and phorizon table and check that the record counts match the counts you saw when loading the data in NASIS. • Known ISSUES that will cause the import process to fail….. • Carriage returns in any text note memo fields within the data – if these occur the sites where they occur will not be imported.
