The Wii, Nintendo's fifth home console, launched on December 8, 2006, and has sold over 7.31 million units worldwide. Its compact size—equivalent to three stacked DVD cases—and lightweight design of 1.2 kg makes it the smallest and lightest home console to date. Unique to the Wii is the Wiimote, which features an internal tilt sensor, vibration, and sound capabilities. The console supports GameCube controllers and offers an intuitive GUI with a pointer feature. However, the active nature of the Wiimote has led to issues with straps breaking during gameplay.
