    2. What Paint Should I Use? The paint that you will need to select will depend on: The type of finish which you desire. The surface in which will be painted. Whether the paint will be used for interior or exterior purposes.

    3. Latex-Base Paint Easy to use and clean up. Dries quickly. Finish: High gloss Semi gloss Lower luster Flat Latex paint is not recommended for use on metal.

    4. Oil-Base Paint Made with linseed oil, tung oil, and other oils. Dyring process is slower than latex. Hard to dispose of. Clean up is more difficult and it is recommended to use mineral spirits or paint thinner. (not gasoline)

    5. Alkyd Paint A synthetic that is used in paint instead of oil. Paints on with a smooth rich finish. Much or durable than latex and a lot easier to clean up than oil-based. All alkyd paints are toxic and combustible. Always have good ventilation when painting with an alkyd paint. Brushes that contain wet alkyd paint are a fire hazard.

    7. Use Location Interior Paint: To be used inside where it is protected from the rain and elements. Used on walls, trim, and ceilings. May use water or oil based

    9. Faux Glazing Techniques Color Washing: Has a casual appearance Can use different color palettes.

    10. Glazing Techniques cont. Crackle: This technique can be used on walls, trim, and cabinets. You can have that “antique” look in just a day. A combination of colors can be used.

    11. Glazing Techniques cont. Ragging: This is a very simple technique that produces a great effect. It produces a fabric like texture

    12. Glazing Techniques cont. Sponging: Adds a soft texture and a rich depth to the walls. A multiple number of colors can also be used for this technique.

    13. Stains and Sealers Preparation: Clean Sand Apply wood conditioner

    14. Selecting a stain, sealer, or a combination. Stains: Stains penetrate the wood, but still show the grain. They do not have protectants. Comes in a variety of types and colors.

    16. Sealants Sealants protect your finished project. It keeps moisture out. Can be brushed or sprayed on woods. Examples: Polyurethane Thompson’s Water Sealant
