  2. Formatting Your Paper • Margins: 1” on all sides • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt • Spacing: double • Heading: left justified, double spaced • Name • Instructor Name • Biology I Honors, period # • Due Date • Title: Centered, same font and style as paper

  3. Advice and Words of Wisdom • Do it early • Get your draft typed up tonight or Saturday, and proofread it. • Review it again with fresh eyes a day or two later. • PROOFREAD!!! • Carefully check the final copy. • Make sure spellcheck has used the right worlds  • No excuses! • You can tell me any story you like, but in the end you will hand me a finished paper in class on Monday or you won’t. • All In. • Turn in the best essay you’re capable of. Leave it all on the field. It’s a good feeling.

Grading Reminder • The rubric has 7 categories, each worth equal weight: • Focus • Address all areas of the prompt and stay on topic • Controlling Idea • Use a good thesis statement, and clearly maintain the idea • Reading/Research • Use appropriate references (5+ total, 1+ in each ph., 1+ from each article) • Development • Include sufficient details in the body paragraphs • Organization • Include 5 organized paragraphswith good internal structure • Conventions • Use good grammar and conventions, use appropriate tone, cite resources correctly, format the paper correctly • Content • Demonstrate understanding of natural selection, adaptation, and homology

Peer Review • HELP YOUR CLASSMATES • Stay on task: every minute you waste is a minute you could have helped a friend or classmate do better. • USE YOUR SKILLS • Some of you are better than others with writing • Some of you are better with content • PREPARE • Test Monday (content) • GET ‘ER DONE!!! • It is 15% of your 4th quarter grade after all.
