  2. La Mesopotamia, terra tra i due fiumi, Tigri ed Eufrate ,fu la sede della civiltà Assira. Il nome degli Assiri deriva dal dio Assur e Assur era anche il nome della capitale,circondata da mura imponenti con 13 porte.

  3. Erano molto bellicosi, infatti per primi adottarono armi e armature di ferro ; la cavalleria ; le macchine da assedio come gli arieti e le torri da combattimento .

  4. I re Assiri più famosi furono: Sargon I che sottomise varie terre in Asia minore e costrinse Babilonia alla resa; Sennacherib definito nella Bibbia “sovrano” crudele e orgoglioso, trasferi la capitale da Assur a Ninive.
