  1. Slope Zero and Undefined By Irma Crespo 2010

  2. The Positive Slope The ratio of rise and run is positive. The graph rises from left to right.

  3. The Negative Slope The ratio of rise and run is negative. The graph rises from right to left.

  4. 0 0 rise rise 4 - 4 run run Slope = Slope = = = = = = = 0 0 The Zero Slope The graph is a horizontal line. A flat line. (-1, 2), (3, 2) rise = 0 2 - 2 -1 - 3 (-1, 2) (3, 2) OR 2 - 2 3 - (-1) The ratio of rise and run is zero.

  5. 4 0 4 rise 3 rise -3 0 run run 2 0 2 0 = = = 2 0 0 Slope = Slope = = = = = The Undefined Slope Undefined because you cannot divide by zero. (2, 1), (2, 4) 1 - 4 2 - 2 OR 4 - 1 2 - 2 undefined The ratio of rise and run is undefined.

  6. rise 3 -3 rise 0 run 0 run Slope = Slope = = = = = The Undefined Slope The graph is a vertical line. It’s standing straight. (2, 1), (2, 4) 1 - 4 (2, 4) 2 - 2 run = 0 OR 4 - 1 (2, 1) 2 - 2 The ratio of rise and run is undefined.

  7. Make Your Own Create a slope equals zero and an undefined slope. Solve the ordered pairs to show that the slope is equal to zero and the other slope is undefined. Graph the slope equals zero and the undefined slope. This is your discussion activity.

  8. Turn in your discussion answers. You earn a point towards a quiz below A. If you have an A on the quiz, the point is applied on you lowest scored- homework. The point is added to the percent grade. Exit Slip

  9. Complete the practice worksheet. Work with a partner or on your own. Submit completed worksheet for grading. Solutions are discussed the next day. Practice Worksheet
