  3. “The faith of Jesus.” It is talked of, but not understood. What constitutes the faith of Jesus, that belongs to the third angel’s message? Jesus becoming our sin-bearer that He might become our sin-pardoning Saviour. Selected Messages Volume 3 172.3

  4. He came to our world and took our sins that we might take His righteousness. And faith in the ability of Christ to save us amply and fully and entirely is the faith of Jesus. Selected Messages Volume 3 172.3

  5. The simple story of the cross of Christ, His suffering and dying for the world, His resurrection and ascension, His mediation in the sinner’s behalf before the Father, subdues and breaks the hard and sinful heart, and brings the sinner to repentance. The Holy Spirit sets the matter before him in a new light, and the sinner realizes that sin must be a tremendous evil to cost such a sacrifice to atone for it…

  6. How grievous must sin be that no less a remedy than the death of the Son of God could save man from the consequences of his guilt. Why was this done in behalf of man? Sons and Daughters of God 228.4

  7. It was because God loved him, and was not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, believe in Jesus as a personal Saviour, and have life eternal. Sons and Daughters of God 228.4

  8. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost Luke 19:10

  9. This implies that He saw a value in what He was seeking And it also implies that He is taking the initiative to bring about the solution, even though we are in a horrible condition

  10. In Hosea 2:13 God says that His people went after other lovers and forgot Him and then He responds to this in an unexpected and amazing way

  11. “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her…And it shall be, in that day,” Says the LORD, “That you will call Me My Husband,’ And no longer call Me ‘My Master,” Hosea 2:14, 16

  12. “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy; I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, And you shall know the LORD” Hosea 2:19-20

  13. “Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, “You are my God!” Hosea 2:23

  14. What has to take place to make this a reality? The next chapter begins with a price needing to be paid to buy back an unfaithful woman This is the Gospel

  15. “And THIS GOSPEL will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

  16. Revelation 14 says that the everlasting Gospel will go to every nation tribe tongue and people

  17. “The message proclaimed by the angel flying in the midst of heaven is the EVERLASTING GOSPEL, the same gospel that was declared in Eden when God said to the serpent, “I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed.” -Manuscript 32, 1896

  18. Eden —> Heel will be bruised Eden —> Tunics of skin Sanctuary —> Lamb is slain Prophets —> Messiah will suffer Jesus —> I will suffer Jesus at Emmaus —> “Ought not the Christ to have suffered…?” Apostles in Acts —> Messiah suffered Revelation —> Lamb slain

  19. Jesus. Will. Suffer.

  20. How often do we hear messages that highlight the sufferings of Christ?

  21. And we wonder why our older and younger generations are wrestling with unhealthy pictures of God and lack an assurance of salvation

  22. Jesus risked the eternal fellowship of the Godhead, and His own eternal existence to see you saved

  23. 2 Corinthians 5:21

  24. Jesus did not write a check for the price of sin He literally became sin And received the wrath of God towards sin to set you free

  25. If you understand the definition of shame vs guilt this verse takes on greater meaning You no longer have to identify yourself with your sin, because Jesus became that sin in your stead And in turn you become the righteousness of God IN HIM

  26. Imagine You are standing before a holy God, and a holy law with just one of your sins. And no Mediator

  27. Imagine What emotions and thoughts would you have in that moment?

  28. Imagine The shame, condemnation, unmingled wrath of almighty God for every sin All heaped upon the shoulders of one Man, at one point and time

  29. This is why Jesus said His soul was exceedingly sorrowful. Even to death

  30. He collapses to the ground twice when he first sets foot in the garden The psychological agony is so intense that physiologically He’s now bleeding through His pores

  31. The disciples have never seen a Jesus like this before He’s usually calm, cool, and collected

  32. You and I under the same circumstances would check out emotionally and psychologically Jesus isn’t afforded that option He suffers, and He suffers alone

  33. In this moment He is longing for human sympathy and affection He gets nothing

  34. Then comes the voice of sophistry to tempt Him to leave us all behind Yet He continues

  35. Jesus has three prayers asking to be delivered from this agonizing call That cup is the same that’s mentioned in Revelation 14

  36. The unmingled wrath of God is being poured out upon God But you’re on His mind “nevertheless”

  37. “His decision is made. He will save man at any cost to Himself” -Desire of Ages 690.3

  38. “God suffered with His Son…There was silence in heaven…Could mortals have viewed the amazement of the angelic hosts as in silent grief they watched the Father separating His beams of light, love, and glory from His beloved Son, they would better understand how offensive in His sight is sin.” -Desire of Ages 690.3

  39. God then sends an angel from His right hand to do for Him what we did not do

  40. We’re told that He would have died in the garden had this not taken place

  41. Betrayed by a kiss “Friend”

  42. Malchus’ ear "Put your sword in it’s place” They aren’t taking my life I’m giving myself for them

  43. Unjust trial Beaten beyond the point of recognition Is 52

  44. Brought before the Jews We will not have this man as Lord over us We have no king but Caesar Give us Barabbas

  45. Before we get too hard on the Jews we need to realize that each time we choose our choice sins over Jesus we are saying the same thing. We won’t have this man as Lord over us. Give us this

  46. We are no better than them. All of us, were it not for the grace of God deserve to die because of our sins

  47. The cross “Hardly felt”

  48. “IF you’re the Son of God” Irony of ironies He’s already saving them, they just haven’t figured it out yet

  49. Voice of sophistry returns

  50. Presence and approval of Father Gone
