The Earth Sciences Division (ESD) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has developed a robust Diversity Program aimed at attracting under-represented minority students and women to careers in Earth Sciences. Established in September 2000, the program emphasizes the recruitment of minority scholars, effective communication of job opportunities, and fostering an inclusive workplace culture. Key achievements include the successful hiring of minority candidates, launching a Post-Baccalaureate Fellowship, and targeted outreach through IMDiversity.com. Plans for FY 2002 focus on continued participation in mentorship programs and improving hiring practices.
