  3. What Are Sedimentary Rocks? Sedimentary rocks are small chips of broken rocks. Have you ever been to the beach and nestled your toes in the sand? Exactly, sand is sedimentary rocks!!

  4. How Are They Formed? Sedimentary rocks are made by erosion. Tiny parts of rocks chip off. Sometimes they wash down rivers, lakes, and oceans. Then it settles at the bottom and mixes in with other small particles.

  5. What Is A Fossil Fuel? A Fossil fuel is the remains of some living organism. It probably is a vegetation or algac that lived millions of years ago and after it died it was converted by pressure and temperature into a rich carbon rich substance that burns in air.

  6. How Is Coal Formed? Plants grew and died many times. After millions of years, many layers had formed, one on top of the other. The weight of the top layers and the water and dirt packed down the lower layers of plant matter. Heat and pressure produced chemical and physical changes in the plant layers which forced out oxygen and left carbon deposits.

  7. How Is Oil Formed? Oil was formed from the remains of animals an plants that lived millions of years ago in a marine environment.

  8. How Is Natural Gas Formed? Natural gas is formed by heating of organic materials over geological time.
