High Jump Rules -jumpers will run toward a bar that will be placed atop two standards -once close to the bar, athletes will jump up on one leg while the force of the leg they are not presently jumping on forces them to turn backwards -jumpers then arch their back to successfully jump over the bar and land on a mat behind the bar -if jumpers miss or knock the bar from its position off of the standards three times in a row, that athlete is eliminated from the competition -the height of the bar is continually raised until a winner is declared (the winner will be the one who can jump the highest measurment)

  3. High Jump Part Two -Stefka Kostadinova is the current record holder of the women’s high jump with a jump of 2.09 metres. She also obtains a record of jumping 2.00 metres an amazing 197 times -Javier Sotomayor is the current men’s high jump record holder of an incredible 2.44 metres

Triple Jump Rules The record holder for the women’s triple jump of 15.5 metres is held by Inessa Kravets of Ukraine Jonathon Edwards of Britain holds the record for men’s triple jump; he jumped 18.29 metres -competitors begin by running a single lane of track -at a certain marked point, athletes hop once -this is followed by either a step or bound, and then finally a jump and land The various phases of triple jump Hop Step/Bound Jump Land

Long Jump Rules -competitors begin running on a single lane of track like triple jump -once they reach a certain are (marked by a line) athletes will jump forward and sing their arms and legs in front of them -winner will be measured on how far they jump The record holder of the men’s long jump is Mike Powell who has retained a jump record of 8.5 metres for more than 20 years Galina Chistyakova holds the record for the women’s long jump as of 1988; her jump measured up to 7.52 metres Jessica Ennis

  10. Discus Weights Men Women -men ages 49 years and younger old throw a 2 kilogram discus -men 50 to 59 years old throw a 1.5 kilogram discus -men ages 60 and up throw a 1 kilogram discus -Women 74 years and younger throw a 1 kilogram discus -Women 75 years and older throw a 750 gram discus

Javelin Throw Rules -the thrower must launch the javelin overhand -unlike other throwing events (shot put, discus, hammer toss) the javelin thrower is provided with a single piece of track where the athlete must throw his/her javelin at a specific point Javelin lengths and Sizes Men throw a 2.7 metre long javelin that weighs 800 grams Women throw a 2.3 metre long javelin that weighs 600 grams Men’s and Women’s Javelins

Hammer Toss The men’s hammer weighs 7.257 kilograms The women’s hammer weighs 4 kilograms John Flanagan Rules -like shot put and discus, the hammer toss involves the thrower to “toss” a weighted object in a marked area -the person who can launch the hammer or ball the furthest wins the competition
