Global Engineering Professional Seminar ME 290 Agenda Week 14: December 1, 2011 Today: Writing Sample results—December 8 for ENGL 421, International Opportunities for Engineers Tomorrow: Last day for “Supplemental Seminars” Next week: Post your “Global Profiles” on NSF GlobalHUB by end of the week—December 9! Profiles returned next week. To 10 Acknowledged! Please complete course/instructor evaluations! Also watch for ME Forum, next Wednesday, December 7, ME 1061, 6 p.m.

  2. International Opportunities What are the barriers? Cost? Delay graduation date? Leave friends and family?

  3. China ETA Consider: • Cost—cost neutral, that includes roundtrip airfare! • Delay graduation—No! Core engineering courses transfer as credit for Purdue BSME! • Leave friends and family—take your friends with you and video Skype with family!

  4. GAIN • Global perspectives—even if you work in the U.S. you gain understanding. • Global experience—talk about it in senior year job interviews! • “Big Delta” credentials—seeing Asia is seeing big change, and large East/West differences! • 35 or 40 close ME friends!
