  2. Accomplishments & Progress Brief Overview of Items Completed to Date

  3. Accomplishments & Progress • National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for all administrators and other critical personnel – June 2012 • Public Information Office (PIO) training for District's PIO • Additional NIMS training for members of Safety Committee

  4. Accomplishments & Progress (cont.) • New Critical Incident Response Plan issued in August 2012 • Critical Incident Team identified for the District • Critical Incident Teams established for each school – defined crisis responsibilities and response • Plan distributed to all schools and appropriate government/law enforcement agencies

Accomplishments & Progress (cont.) • Facility familiarization tours for: • Law Enforcement (police, constables, PSP, Forest Service) • Local Fire Departments • Utilizing local law enforcement resources: • Coordinating active shooter training with PSP and other agencies • Scheduled PSP Risk and Vulnerability Assessment • Team out of Harrisburg, PA • Conducts survey with school in session to identify strengths and deficiencies

Accomplishments & Progress (cont.) • WCSD presence on local agencies: • Local Emergency Planning Committee • Warren County Intergovernmental Co-op Fire Service Committee • Attended meeting of all law enforcement, fire departments and EMHS after Sandy Hook school shooting to discuss preparation and coordination issues for Warren County

Safety Committee • Certification of WCSD Safety Committee granted by PA Department of Labor and Industry • Saves 5% on workman compensation premium (about $14,000.00/year) • Committee annual training update occurred in May 2013 • Recertification in June 2013 • Coordinates WCSD safety activities and responses

Safety Committee (cont.) • Meets at least once per month • Addresses employee & building safety concerns and develops recommendations • Example: security assessment of doors and locks completed with a projection of costs and incorporated into B&G 5-year Capital Projects lists • Example: reviewed and revised school sign-in procedures for visitors • Conducts safety walkthroughs of District buildings

  11. Safety and Security Goals • Develop “Ready Reference Guide” for each classroom for staff distribution • Complete PSP Risk and Vulnerability Assessment • Continue to Coordinate Fire Department and Law Enforcement tours

  12. Safety and Security Goals (cont.) • Conduct Active Shooter Training, in a District facility, for Law Enforcement • Conduct intruder drills, with Law Enforcement, in each school next year • Coordinate staff and student safety trainings focusing on contingencies in Critical Incident Plan

  13. Safety and Security Goals (cont.) • Continue to revise and update Incident Response Plan and Critical Incident Teams (District and school) • Continue, and expand, Safety Committee outreach and programs to benefit WCSD students and staff
