New Intake Induction • School Routine • Induction Period beginning on Wednesday 4th September at 8.30 am and finish at 3 pm (on this Wednesday only) • Punctuality / Attendance • Mobile phone policy • Uniform • Lockers • Rewards / Sanctions • Extra-Curricular Clubs/Extended learning • Facebook and social networking sites • School day
Extended Learning • Wednesdays 2:20 – 3pm • Opportunity to participate in extended learning activities: • enrichment or extension activities in school • wider reading at home • development of skills in a particular sport or on a musical instrument • Taking up a new hobby. • All students in years 7 & 8 are expected to take part in at least one of these sessions • The Lordswood Challenge– aim to broaden students’ learning experiences • Students complete ‘challenge’ across 6 areas: • Aim to provide a good foundation for progression to the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme in year 9 • Link with the Lordswood Experience which outlines the opportunities and learning which we want all students to experience during their time at Lordswood Girls’ School.

Smart card for lunch • The cards must be topped up by Parentmail or via the cash machine in the canteen • If the card gets lost, replacement cards are £3 • Students must inform the canteen staff immediately if card is lost • Free school meal cards are the same
Extra equipment • HB pencil • Handwriting pen • Green pen (biro) • Pencil sharpener • Rubber • Calculator • Protractor • Compass • 30cm shatter resistant ruler • An English dictionary
Key dates for September • Back to school on Wednesday 4th September at 8.30 am • Wear full school uniform • The girls will be given their timetables that week • They will not need their PE kit for the first three days • Autobiography shoebox on 4th September • Friday 6th September – own clothes for the Dudley Zoo trip (normal school hours) • Thursday 19th September: Staff training day - School closed to pupils
Key dates for the Autumn term • Monday 16th December, Year 7 theatre visit to see The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen at the Old Rep, Birmingham • Year 7 parents’ evening with review tutor – Thursday 17thOctober – appointments will be sent out early in October • Thursday 19th September school closed • Friday 22nd November: Staff training day – School closed to pupils
