  1. Saint Conrad of Parzham By: Grant Conrad Johnson

  2. Biography • Saint Conrad was born near Parzham, Bavaria on December 22, 1818. This area of the world is now the country of Germany. • He died on April 21, 1894.

  3. Summary of St. Conrad’s Life • He was the ninth son in his family. • His parents named him John and his nickname was Hansel. • He liked to be alone and prayed often. • John had a special place in his heart for the Blessed Virgin. He prayed the rosary everyday. • On Mary’s feast days he walked to a Shrine of the Blessed Mother that was very far away. On the way to and from he prayed non-stop and fasted.

  4. Summary of Conrad’s life • At 31 years old he joined the Capuchin Franciscan Friars. That is when his name became Conrad. • He was the porter or guard of the church for 41 years until his death. • He helped the poor and took care of abandoned children. • He prayed often before the Blessed Sacrament. • He asked Mary to help him and the people he included in his life. • He was united to God in prayer so everyone felt comfortable when they were with him. • He became a Saint in 1934.

  5. I choose Saint Conrad because • Saint Conrad impressed and inspired me because he was honest, loyal, loving and caring towards the poor. He also took care of abandoned children and gave his life to God in prayer. • To please God, I could pray more often like St. Conrad. • I choose this saint because my middle name is Conrad. I wanted to learn more about the saint with my same name. • I found the information for this report on www.americancatholic.org and www.wikipedia.org.

  6. A letter from Saint Conrad "It was God’s will that I should leave everything that was near and dear to me. I thank him for having called me to religious life where I have found such peace and joy as I could never have found in the world. My plan of life is chiefly this: to love and suffer, always meditating upon, adoring and admiring God’s unspeakable love for his lowliest creatures" (Letter of Saint Conrad).
