Use Metrics • What has been achieved • Input and agreement on information to collect from DSWG • Data provider name, Date/time of access, License involved and which one • Data provider category (research, government, public, private) • Dataset accessed (available for reuse or not) • Location of user (country, region, etc.) [no personal information, IP address, etc. collected] • “Tags" associated with the data (geossDataCore, geossAttribution, etc.) • Cost involved and how much, Optional additional information from data provider • Agreement that information collected can be expanded if deemed valuable and non-intrusive • Use Cases have been developed • Document on implementation details started • Many alternatives • ExCom presentation planned January 13, 2014 GEO-X AIP-6 Results Meeting

Use Metrics • What still needs to be done (AIP-7) • Find testing partners • GCI component modifications (GWP, DAB) • Development of metrics collection and reporting component • Guidelines document for data providers • Tutorial on providing metrics and requesting reports • Look into adding more metrics • Track the intended use or reuse of the data, such as for societal benefit • Track the metrics information by leveraging the metadata records of the data • Track the user as a “GEOSS user” January 13, 2014 GEO-X AIP-6 Results Meeting

Authentication and Single Sign-On • What has been achieved • Agreement to pursue a SAML-2/OpenID SSO federation for GEOSS • Initially authentication only • Could be extended to involve more authentication mechanisms • Testing partners (COBWEB, CUAHSI) • Use Cases have been developed, many realized and tested • Authenticate via OpenID to access resources at an OpenID site • Authenticate via OpenID to access resources at a SAML-2 site (requires gateway) • Authenticate via SAML-2 to access resources at a SAML-2 site • Authenticate via SAML-2 to access resources at an OpenID site (requires gateway) • Identification as "GEOSS User" During Registration • Trusted gateway for OpenID into SAML-2 • Tutorial documentation started January 13, 2014 GEO-X AIP-6 Results Meeting
