  2. Introduction to Bald Eagles Did you know that… • A pesticide called DDT almost killed off the Bald Eagle? • People wanted the Turkey as the national bird? • Some people mistake them for Golden Eagles?

  3. Description • Bald Eagles have white feathers on their head and tail. • They also have brown on their mid-bodies and they have curved beaks. • They weigh only 9 lb. and are 2 ½-3ft. In height! • At age 4-5 they start to grow white feathers.

  4. Diet • Eagles eat fish, deer, mice, rats, snakes, etc. (See Below) • They fly over their prey then swooping down and if it is small then they eat it whole. • If not then they rip big chunks of it off ferociously.

  5. Habitat • It lives in every region of Georgia and in every continent! • The only place they don’t live is Antarctica and the Arctic.

  6. Fun Facts Did you know that… • Wingspan is 6 ½ - 8ft. • Can live up to 35 years of age • If they catch a fish that weighs more than half their body weight then they swim to shore with the fish and eat it I hope you learned a lot!
