The Collections “Our object collections range from familiar domestic appliances to unfamiliar manufacturing machinery and scientific instruments.  We also collect vehicles, office equipment, models, memorabilia, awards, architectural materials, archaeological finds and, occasionally, works of art.  Our collections of business and personal archives include minute books, letters, trade literature (such as catalogues and manuals), engineering drawings and photographs.  We also collect textile samples and pattern books, prints, paintings and audiovisual and sound recordings, including oral and video histories.”

12. CAT is concerned with the search for globally sustainable, whole and ecologically sound technologies and ways of life. Within this search the role of CAT is to explore and demonstrate a wide range of alternatives, communicating to other people the options for them to achieve positive change in their own lives. This communication involves: Inspiring - instilling the desire to change by practical example Informing - feeding the desire to change by providing the most appropriate information Enabling- providing effective and continuing support to put the change into practice.

We demonstrate practical ways of addressing these problems. Leading by example, we aim to show that living more sustainably is not only easy to attain but can provide a better quality of life.”

15. “There are two Eco Cabins and each provides well insulated, centrally heated accommodation for 18 people. Situated close by, are the photovoltaic cells, wind turbines and water turbine which, via batteries, supply the Eco Cabins with most of their electricity. The Eco Cabins' energy and water resources, together with the associated monitoring equipment, provide an opportunity for co-operation in the management of these resources to be a central feature of your Eco Cabin residential. It is also possible to participate in community activities such as collecting wood, gardening, building paths and improving the visual environment.
