  1. World Literature Open House Mrs. HwangBo January 23rd, 2014

Academic Topics • Attendance is important, esp. on the block system! • Every student should come prepared to participate in class every day (book, composition book, parallel novel,paper, writing utensil). • Active participation in classroom instruction is the best way to learn and retain the curriculum.

  3. Academic Topics • Students will have vocabulary and unit assessments regularly throughout the semester. • We are currently working on the semester research assignment. It is due on January 31st.

  4. Academic Topics • Students will have homework regularly, but only as an extension of daily agenda items that are not completed. • If your student works diligently then homework is minimal. • HW Topics • Vocabulary book exercises • FAQ Research work • Literature readings, notes, questions

  5. Grading System • Grades are divided into Common Core Literacy categories as listed in the syllabus. • Small assessments (quizzes, some projects) occur on a regular basis and are worth approx. 15 – 50pts. • Larger test assessments occur at the end of each major unit.

Agenda & homework items are posted as needed, approximately 2-4 nights a week • Classroom web page: www.edmodo.com– students receive ancillary links, assignment posts, and submit some work here.Please use the parent codes & join!
