Synopsis (1) • The start of the book is where we are introduced to the feel of the book and the situations of the main characters. We start with a man named Arthur Dent, who’s house is being demolished by the local community to make way for an overpass. He is visited by his alien friend, Ford Prefect, who wrote the book “Hitchhiker’s guide to the Galaxy”. Arthur is told by Ford that the world is about to be destroyed, to make room for a hyperspace bypass. They get on an invader ship, and leave Earth.
Meet Arthur! (2) • To be frank, Arthur is a very unlucky man. His house was about to be demolished to build an overpass, and then earth was destroyed soon after, to make an even bigger overpass. He gets Involved in such a huge crisis, when he innocently woke up to the sound of construction outside. He never truly did anything wrong, besides his house being present there.
Quote (3) • "Forty-two," said Deep Thought, with infinite majesty and calm. • "The Answer to the Great Question, of Life, the Universe and Everything" This simple quote was what launched the entire story. Douglas Adams had even said that 42 was just a random, arbitrary number. There was no meaning behind it, and despite it being so important, there was no point to anyone to know that 42 was the answer, without the corresponding question.
A PROBLEM THE BOOK ADRESSES (4) • “Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-eight million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue-green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.” This quote simply states that man is quite insignificant compared to the infinite possibilities of other things that may lie in the universe. We are impressed by simple things, and that could be a limit to development in society. If we are focused on simple things, we will only strive for simple things in our lives.
The end • The group is visited by 2 mice, who are alerted of the answer to life, the universe, and everything. They speculate that Arthur knows the question to the answer, since he is a late-generation organic product of the computer. The mice offer to buy Arthur’s brain, and of course, he says no. They are about to cut his head off, when they are interrupted by the leader of the Universe. • Soon afterwards, they decide to have lunch at The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

Anachronism • A thing belonging or appropriate to a period other than that in which it exists • Synonyms: prochronism, anticipation • Antonyms: misfit • Disco is an considered anachronism these days.
nonchalant • Definition: Disinterested • Antonym: Anxious, Enthusiastic • Synonyms: Calm, Collective • Anakin was nonchalant towards his appetite.
Maudlin • Definition: Sentimental • Antonym: Uncaring • Synonym: Sympathetic • Anakin is definitely not maudlin.
Tranquil • Definitions: Free of troubles • Antonyms: Stressed, emotional • Synonyms: Calm • I will feel very tranquil once I’m done with this presentation.
Article • Whenever Ford was drunk on Earth, he would tell the woman he was with that if she wanted to see a U.F.O., she should look for a green light. Because most reported evidence of starcrafts are silver, if any evidence were to exist in the book, it could have easily been dismissed because of Ford.
Song : Irony • Although the song doesn’t really have irony, it can be related to the book because of the amount of things that happen to Arthur. The song describes unfortunate events that occur because of mere luck, and the things that happened were never deserved. • It can be related in a way that Arthur’s house was going to be taken down for no specific reason, and the destruction of his house was never deserved. It simply occurred because his house was present there at the wrong time. To make matters worse, Earth was put in the same situation,
Douglas adams Adams was born on 11 March 1952 to Janet (née Donovan) and Christopher Douglas Adams in Cambridge, England. He created quite a few television series’, and eventually he started to star in a few. After quite a while, he came up withHitchiker’sGuide to the galaxy. He made a radio series, a television series, and it eventually became a book. He died in 2002, and an international towel day was implemented to honour his death, 2 weeks after he has died. In the book, a towel was described as the easiest way to identify what kind of a hiker somebody was.
Book Review! • If you ever want a book that is not too serious, but is still able to entertain you? Well, Hitchiker’s Guide is for you! • The book focuses a lot on humour, which is something that is rarely seen today, amongst sci-fi novels. Most authors aim to detail a world from the future, or an alternate way of life, however this book aims to please the readers with a mix of comedy and suspense. • Because the book relies on its comedic values, it relies too heavily on the dialogue over the story, so it may be lacking in terms of plot and character development. • I would give this book
