  2. Essential Question • “How can we design problem/passion-based professional learning to engage our teachers for 21st century learners?”

  3. My Local Context • Small Suburban School • 20 Teachers on our Faculty • 5 Teachers are in the PLP Cohort • Wide range of skills and needs

  4. Objectives • To create a personalized professional development plan for each teacher. • To engage teachers in the Project/Passion Based Learning process. • To model self directed learning in order to transfer this process to our classrooms/students. • To foster collaboration among teachers. • To engage in more powerful use of technology in our school.

  5. Assessment • Self reflection and evaluation of goals • Participation in on-line discussions • Collaborative project with a colleague • Demonstrated use of web 2.0 tools for student learning

Implementation Plan • September 2012 • Faculty Meeting – discussion and presentation of Project-Based Learning/Review of TPaCK model • Each teacher creates a personal learning contract for the year, which includes reflection on the TPaCK model • Each teacher reads about project based learning • Teachers post on our faculty wiki a sharing of what they have read and learned about project based learning and questions this poses for them

Implementation Plan (continued) • October 2012 – Teachers brainstorm and p0st in the wiki topics that they are personally and professionally passionate about • Each teacher will meet with the principal to review their personal learning contract • Each teacher will comment on one other teacher’s post from September in the wiki

  8. Implementation Plan…. • November 2012 – Teachers will engage in activities designed by their personal learning contracts • Teachers will research means for greater integration of web 2.0 tools in their classroom • Sharing of ideas and research at faculty meeting

Implementation Plan…. • December 2012 – Teachers will post in the wiki an example of how they are using project based learning in their classroom and reflections on their use of the TPaCK model • Teachers will post a video of their students engaged in project based learning • January/February 2013 – Teachers will again brainstorm topics they are passionate about in the classroom • Based on this brainstorming teachers will identify a colleague to work with on a collaborative project across grades/subject areas

Implementation Plan • March/April 2013 – Teachers will carry out collaborative project with another class in the school • Artifacts will be posted to teacherweb pages • Review of teacher learning contracts will be shared • May/June 2013 – Reflective summaries of personal learning will be posted to the wiki • Documents of student learning and projects will be shared at faculty meeting

  11. Evaluation/Assessment • Teacher reflections and sharing • Review of personal learning contracts • Discussion regarding progress towards goals
