  1. Happy Father’s Day to all of our great Dad’s FISH FRY Sunday 6 JUNE 10 @ 1400 Catfish with all the fixin’s baked beans, potato salad, Coleslaw, hushpuppies and iced tea. $6.00 per person The American Legion Warrington Post 240 8666 Gulf Beach Highway Pensacola FL 32507-2639 ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED Nonprofit org. U.S. Postage PAID Pensacola, FL Permit No. 385 The Victor’s Voice FOR GOD AND COUNTRY JUNE 2010 Post 240 website: www.americanlegion240.org Commander’s Corner The year has come to an end and our new Officers will be elected into their new positions on June 8th. It has been a pleasure to have served as the Commander of Post 240 this past year. I cannot begin to thank our volunteers enough for their hard work and time spent for the betterment of Post 240. Please continue to support our new officers by attending our meetings and functions and by volunteering in any way you can. With everyone’s help we can continue our upward swing and once again regain our strength and continue to support the Veterans within our community. “Thank you” to everyone for your support. For God and Country– Marsha Martin COMMANDER Marsha Martin 982-5750 ADJUTANT Michael Munoz 292-1464 1ST VICE COMMANDER Jimmy Lee Martin 457-1847 2ND VICE COMMANDER Bud Kalman 380-9966 3RD VICE COMMANDER D.J. Help us forgive others the way you have forgiven us. Amen. For God and Country, Stu Baker 1st Vice Commander Due to a computer glitch in our Membership computer we discovered a problem, which has been fixed. Unfortunately, we had only 1037 members pay their dues, which gives us a new attained percentage of 88%. We missed our 100% due by May 7, 2010 but we can still reach our 100% membership goal. I hoping we can do it. Please welcome our new members: Eric Dworzecki, Andrea Rae Varnum, Rhonda Sawyer, Richard Peters, Patrick Patterson, Anthony Matheus, Clyde Martin, Cary Henderson, Charles Crabtree, Mike Gordon and New Transfers into Post 240: Michael Muth, Ronald Karty, John Steve Lind, William Millican, Charles Kennedy and A.P. Thacker. Your Executive Board voted to hold all new membership applications’ after June 1 so as to put the new members on the 2011 membership rolls vice 2010. This is what we have done in past years and it only makes sense. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your 1st Vice Commander this past year. I didn’t reach the 100% membership goal I was hoping for but I brought back some things we use to do and look forward to hopefully serving as your Commander for next year 2010 – 2011. Don’t forget the Post Officer nominations and elections on June 8, 2010. Please come out and vote and support your Post and Lounge. For God and Country Jimmy Lee Martin From Post Judge Advocate: The last nominations for your Post Officers will be on Tuesday June 8, 2010 at the General Membership meeting. I ask each and every one of you to come to the meeting and vote for the candidate of your choice that will do a good job for the American Legion and Post 240. The members of your Executive Board are voted in to do the everyday business of the Post. They make sure the lights are on, the toilet paper is available, the post building is in good repair, the insurance is paid, IRS gets their money and we don’t get closed or go to jail. They come to meetings twice a month, come to most all Post functions and represent the Post when someone rents the Main Hall. My point is if you have a desire to do this thankless job, please come to the General Membership meeting on June 8th and run for an office. The problem is if no one runs for office, then the Commander has to perform all the duties of all the empty positions. On top of all the Executive Board members are the numerous Committee Chairmen that must be filled to fulfill the responsibilities to the American Legion and the Veterans. These are a few descriptions of the responsibilities of your Post Officers. If you want to know more, please see me. Jimmy lee Martin 2nd Vice Commander Come out and enjoy our Friday night dance June 11th from 8PM to Midnight. We have “CLASS X” performing for us.
