  1. The American Legion Warrington Post 240 8666 Gulf Beach Highway Pensacola FL 32507-2639 ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED Nonprofit org. U.S. Postage PAID Pensacola, FL Permit No. 385 The Victor’s Voice FOR GOD AND COUNTRY AUGUST 2010 Post 240 website: www.americanlegion240.org Commander’s Corner July was a very busy month for your Post Officers. We re-keyed all the locks in the Post. We hired a new Lounge Manager: John Milli, our janitor, Roy Mack got well enough to come back to work and we hired a new maintenance man, Jon Storey. Jim Holley’s Lawn Service has volunteered to take care of all the yard work at the Post for 2 six packs of Bud. This is what makes our Post so great, the people who volunteer their time and expertise in helping the Post look nice and a nice place for our Veterans to get together. We now have a 2nd Vice, Cecil Russell and a Historian, Chuck Krahn. I thank them for volunteering for these key Officer positions. We now have all the Officers needed to run the Post. Thank you! August 7th the Post will host the 1st District Meeting at 10:00. We are working on the details now to lower the prices of the Hall Rental. I figure it is better to have the Hall rented for a lower price and get people in, than price the Hall out of range so no one can afford to rent it. I was talking the other day and asked a question. When was the last time an Active Duty person held their Retirement party at our Post? I will let you know what comes out of the Executive Board meeting next month. John Milli is trying new things in the lounge to bring in our members and Veterans. Please come out and see what is happening in the Lounge and the Post. Amen. For God and Country, Stu Baker American Legion Riders Man is it hot outside! I know some of you are doing some riding, just remember to stay hydrated. The new flyers for our Oct. 23rd Poker Run are done and at the Post. Mary Taffaro did a great job! The Donation letters are there also. So take some of each, hand them out, and start getting those donations early. October will be here before we know it. Not many rides coming up because of the heat, but as they do I will send out an E-Mail. The Wreaths Across America Program is underway and we need all the help we can get. See if your company or Co-Workers will sponsor some. This years ceremony will be December 11th, in the new Annex at Barrancas National Cemetery. The cut off date is early November this year, so we are starting earlier than usual. See Debra for the forms or check the Riders board.. That's all for now, remember to come to the meetings and support the Post. For God and Country J.D. Ellis Sr. Director ALR 240 1st Vice Commander The membership cards for 2011 are here so come on in and renew your membership today! We missed our 100% goal for 2010 by 126 members. It would be great if we could once again reach that 100% like we did for many years in the past. I would like to give a big “Welcome” to our new members Geoffrey Stratton, Donald Farrar, Scott Howe, Rene Morin, Ken Ludwig, Jackie Hilles, Lisa Chardon, Lawrence Houdashelt, Brad Coleman, Ralph Caya, Charles Coffin, Michael Holdener, Steven Kast, Michael Cline and Troy Thacker. I am planning a Membership Appreciation Day to be held sometime in August and the Early Bird dinner will be in November. Keep checking your calendars for all of our upcoming events. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me or our Adjutant “Mouse”. I look forward to seeing everyone around the Post. My email is 1stvice240@att.net For God and Country Marsha Martin 3rd Vice Commander Our Fish Fry in July was great! Our number of customers continues to grow every month. In August the Fish Fry will return to the first Sunday of the month. Come on out and join us for some great fish and fixin’s. Remember it starts at 2:00PM and only lasts till the fish is gone so get there early! For God and Country Jake Taffaro Barrancas National Cemetery New Office Location: The Administrative Service Office has relocated. It is now on Cemetery Rd which is the entrance to the new cemetery annex by the golf course. Turn onto John Tower’s Rd and make an almost immediate left onto Cemetery Rd, follow the winding rod to the bottom of the hill. Phone and electronic correspondence remains the same.
