  1. The American Legion Warrington Post 240 8666 Gulf Beach Highway Pensacola FL 32507-2639 ADDRESS SERVICE REQUESTED Nonprofit org. U.S. Postage PAID Pensacola, FL Permit No. 385 The Victor’s Voice FOR GOD AND COUNTRY January 2010 Post 240 website: www.americanlegion240.org Commanders Corner Happy New Year to everyone. I do not have room to list everyone of our volunteers who have given so much of their time this past year. “Thank you” to each and every one of you. Because of you our events and special activities have all been a success during the past five months. Things are starting to improve and I look forward to having a better 2010. Please continue to support your Post, Auxiliary, Sons, Riders and Lounge. New key cards will be available for $1 in the Lounge on January 1st. Please remember – if you have a key card - use it - especially at night – for the safety of our bartenders and our Post. That was a great Christmas party, great band, Great food and drinks. If you missed it, you missed one of the best parties yet.      Thanks to everyone that came out in the bad weather for the Wreaths Across America ceremony. There were 2500 wreaths placed on our Hero's graves. Thanks again, to all who purchased a wreath and to those who placed them.      I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.      January is here and the only thing on the schedule so far is the  Gulf Coast Council Meeting , Sunday the 17th, at Post 240. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 to 11:00. The meeting starts at 11:00. Remember this meeting sets the schedule for the year. These are the rides that will be honored first. So if you know someone, or a group who wishes to be put on the calendar let them know the date and time.      Till next time, have fun and ride safe. J.D. Ellis  Director 1st Vice Commander Report We have had 855 members pay their due, which gives us an attained percentage of 72%. We missed our Goal of 75% on Dec. 2. Our next Department of Florida Goal is 80%, which is needed by January 6, 2010. We only need 86 members to reach that goal. The Post needs 321 members to pay their dues to attain 100% membership. I know we can do it. Please welcome our new members: Stuart Tennimon, Joshua M. Reid, Johnny A. Ramsey, Barry T. Sloan, William M. Dean, and Transfers: David Dupois, Glenn Stapleton. Thanks for your help with the Christmas Dinner. We held an Audit of the Lounge just before Christmas, I will let know how that went. Please come out and support your Lounge. We, the Post Officers can’t do anything for the Post or the Veterans without your support and help. For God and Country Jimmy lee Martin Auxiliary President’s Corner I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and may you have many more. Our yard sale was a success thanks to Edie, Janet, Becky, Tina and Skeet for all of your hard work and thanks to all who donated items for the sale. It is fund raisers like this that enable us to support our Unit programs and help the needy families and children in our community. Thanks to everyone who donated to our Angel Tree. The funds from this were used to provide Christmas for needy families in our area. Our next project will be Mardi Gras 2010 on Feb 12th. Tickets will be going on sale 2 Jan for $12.50 each, reserved seating. Dinner, show and dance to the music of Exit 105. For more information contact Edie at 456-8026. Remember all funds raised from this event are used to support our Veterans and Children and Youth programs of the American Legion Auxiliary. Come out and support your Auxiliary, meet your fellow members, have fun and dance your cares away. For God and Country, Vi Eyerly Finance Officer Lets make 2010 a great year. Our financial health Is beginning to improve. If we can get enough volunteers to help raise funds, support and Chair our various Legion Programs – IT WILL BE A BANNER YEAR. Keep in mind that our Post is a lot like the human body… just as it needs to replace its cells when they begin to wear out so must our Post replace its workers before they wear out. If you haven’t become involved yet with some activity get involved now and give those who have worked so hard, for so long, a break. The “OLD SAW’ is still true today – you will be far more effective for a lot longer with a lot of people doing a little than you can with a few people doing a lot! Get involved and serve your Community, State and Nation. Hal Eyerly, Finance Officer
