What is wetland???? • Criteria of a Ramsar Site : • a particularly good representation of a natural or near-natural wetland • supports an appreciable assemblage of rare, vulnerable, or endangered • species of plants or animals • holds more than 20,000 water birds. • holds more than 1% of the individuals in the population of a species of • organisms

  3. Hong Kong Wetland Park • Area:10,000m2 • Location:northern part of Tin Shui Wai, New • Territories • To compensate for the wetlands lost due to • Tin Shui Wai New Town development

Value of The Wetland Park • To foster public awareness, knowledge and understanding of the inherent values of wetlands • To marshal public support and action for wetland conservation • To demonstrate the diversity of the Hong Kong's wetland ecosystem • To create a visitor attraction of international status
