  1. Ma’ad Lesson 2 Sheikh Ayub Rashid 08/08/09

  2. In our last lesson we have seen that; Belief in Ma’ad is considered a fundamental pillar of faith by all Muslims, regardless of their schools of thought. Ma’ad is the belief that we will return to Allah the Almighty Both the Qur’an as well as Hadith gives importance to the issue of Ma’ad. Believing in Ma’ad is very important since it affects our lives in this world, positively or negatively, for an individual as well as the whole community. There are about 2000 verses which talk about different issues concerning Ma’ad

  3. That Prophets of Allah, most of their advices: • Talked about thereafter • They debated with deniers of hereafter- since people did not believe in the unseen; examples include Musa & Fir’aun, Ibrahim & Namrud. • There are many different names of Ma’ad, which give us more understanding about our return to Allah • When the Qur’an addresses the deniers of Ma’ad it asks them to bring their proofs and evidences. • We have seen examples of Ma’ad in the Qur’an, for example in plants, revival of animals, followers of Prophet Musa who were revived and how Isa (as) revived people. • We looked at how Qur’an answers the deniers of Ma’ad • That Ma’ad will be by bodies and spirits / rooh • We tried to prove Ma’ad by looking into • Looking for perfection. • Justice • Allah’s promise • We were created for a purpose

  4. In this lecture we want to look at the following points; • Specifications for Ma’ad • From the time we die until Qiyamat • Angels of death • Not wanting to go • Al Barzakh • What will happen on the day of Qiyamat? • The Trumpet

  5. A new life will begin • Resurrection • Judgement Day • Court of justice of Allah will be established • This world is for preparation to akhera. • When is Qiyāmah/Ma’ad?

  6. Specifications for Ma’ad The life after death will be forever The enjoyment will be real and without any pain. There will be two sections of lives, one for the doors of good and the other one for the doors of bad Justice will be equal for all Ma’ad will be for reward or punishment and not a place for duties like ibadaat or a’maal. Imam Ali (as) said “today is duty without reward and tomorrow is reward without duty”

  7. From the time we die until Qiyamat • All the people will die • Qur’an emphasize that all people but all the creates will die and no one will live in this world forever; Sura al Rahman (55:32) • فَبِأَيِّ آلَاء رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ {32} • Shakir 55:32] Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? • Sura al Imran (3:185) and al Anbiya (21:35) • كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَن زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَما الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ {185} • [Shakir 3:185] Every soul shall taste of death, and you shall only be paid fully your reward on the resurrection day; then whoever is removed far away from the fire and is made to enter the garden he indeed has attained the object; and the life of this world is nothing but a provision of vanities. • كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ {35} • [Shakir 21:35] Every soul must taste of death and We try you by evil and good by way of probation; and to Us you shall be brought back.

  8. Allah tells even our Prophet (saw) that he will die, Sura al Zumar (39: 30) and al Anbiya (21:34) إِنَّكَ مَيِّتٌ وَإِنَّهُم مَّيِّتُونَ {30} [Shakir 39:30] Surely you shall die and they (too) shall surely die. وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ {34} [Shakir 21:34] And We did not ordain abiding for any mortal before you. What! Then if you die, will they abide? We can conclude that death is a principal which will pass for the entire creatures without exceptional.

  9. Angels of death and Sakrat al mawt • According to Qur’an, Allah the Almighty is the one who decide when a person has to die, and that the angle of death (Malak al mawt) is the one who has been given the task of taking our spirits to Allah. He has his helpers too. • Allah is the one who causes us to die • Sura al az Zumar (39: 42) • اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا فَيُمْسِكُ الَّتِي قَضَى عَلَيْهَا الْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الْأُخْرَى إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ {42} • [Shakir 39:42] Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep; then He withholds those on whom He has passed the decree of death and sends the others back till an appointed term; most surely there are signs in this for a people who reflect. • Angels of death takes our spirits by the command of Allah • Sura al Sajdah (32: 11) • قُلْ يَتَوَفَّاكُم مَّلَكُ الْمَوْتِ الَّذِي وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَ {11} • [Shakir 32:11] Say: The angel of death who is given charge of you shall cause you to die, then to your Lord you shall be brought back. • Other angels help Malak al mawt • Sura al An’am (6:61) • وَهُوَ الْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِ وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُم حَفَظَةً حَتَّىَ إِذَا جَاء أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لاَ يُفَرِّطُونَ {61} • [Shakir 6:61] And He is the Supreme, above His servants, and He sends keepers over you; until when death comes to one of you, Our messengers cause him to die, and they are not remiss.

  10. Some spirits will be taken away easily and others with hardship Those who believe in Allah and do good deeds, their spirits will be taken away easily; An Nahl (16:32) and al An’ am (7:93) الَّذِينَ تَتَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلآئِكَةُ طَيِّبِينَ يَقُولُونَ سَلامٌ عَلَيْكُمُ ادْخُلُواْ الْجَنَّةَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ {32} [Shakir 16:32] Those whom the angels cause to die in a good state, saying: Peace be on you: enter the garden for what you did. فَتَوَلَّى عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالاَتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ فَكَيْفَ آسَى عَلَى قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ {93} [Shakir 7:93] So he turned away from them and said: O my people! certainly I delivered to you the messages of my Lord and I gave you good advice; how shall I then be sorry for an unbelieving people? Those who do not believe in Allah and go against His commands, they will die painfully; Al Anfal (8:5) and Muhammad (47:27) كَمَا أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِن بَيْتِكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقاً مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لَكَارِهُونَ {5} [Shakir 8:5] Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, though a party of the believers were surely averse; فَكَيْفَ إِذَا تَوَفَّتْهُمْ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَارَهُمْ {27} [Shakir 47:27] But how will it be when the angels cause them to die smiting their backs. Even among Muslims there is difference among them based on their certainty and the way they practice their religion, and that will be reflected on them when their souls will be taken away from them; Allah says;

  11. Not wanting to go • Death is inevitable, but when it comes, some people will not want to go and they will wish to stay in this world, but that wish will not be fulfilled, since even if they will be given the second chance their way of life will be the same. • Allah the Almighty says; • Sura al Mu’minun (23:99-100) • حَتَّى إِذَا جَاء أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ {99} • [Shakir 23:99] Until when death overtakes one of them, he says: Send me back, my Lord, send me back; • لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ كَلَّا إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا وَمِن وَرَائِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {100} • [Shakir 23:100] Haply I may do good in that which I have left. By no means! it is a (mere) word that he speaks; and before them is a barrier until the day they are raised. • Sura al Munafiqun (63:10- 11) • وَأَنفِقُوا مِن مَّا رَزَقْنَاكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَ أَحَدَكُمُ الْمَوْتُ فَيَقُولَ رَبِّ لَوْلَا أَخَّرْتَنِي إِلَى أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ فَأَصَّدَّقَ وَأَكُن مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ {10} • [Shakir 63:10] And spend out of what We have given you before death comes to one of you, so that he should say: My Lord! why didst Thou not respite me to a near term, so that I should have given alms and been of the doers of good deeds? • وَلَن يُؤَخِّرَ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِذَا جَاء أَجَلُهَا وَاللَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ {11} • [Shakir 63:11] And Allah does not respite a soul when its appointed term has come, and Allah is Aware of what you do.

  12. Al Barzakh • When we die we will stay in our graveyards for a period known only by Allah. • That life after death and before al Ma’ad is known as Barzakh. Allah says in the Qur’an; • Sura al Mu’minun (23:100) • لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ كَلَّا إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا وَمِن وَرَائِهِم بَرْزَخٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {100} • [Shakir 23:100] Haply I may do good in that which I have left. By no means! it is a (mere) word that he speaks; and before them is a barrier until the day they are raised. • This is a period of purification for those among us who have committed sins. And it is a period of starting to enjoy for those who did good deeds in this world.

  13. What will happen on the day of Qiyamat? • There will be major changes in the world we know today almost for everything; • The earth, for example will be as Qur’an says; • Sura al Zilzāl (99:1-8 • إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا {1} • Shakir 99:1] When the earth is shaken with her (violent) shaking,وَأَخْرَجَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَثْقَالَهَا {2} • Shakir 99:2] And the earth brings forth her burdens,وَقَالَ الْإِنسَانُ مَا لَهَا {3} • Shakir 99:3] And man says: What has befallen her?يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا {4} • Shakir 99:4] On that day she shall tell her news,بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَى لَهَا {5} • Shakir 99:5] Because your Lord had inspired her.يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ النَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا أَعْمَالَهُمْ {6} • [Shakir 99:6] On that day men shall come forth in sundry bodies that they may beshown their works.فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ {7} • Shakir 99:7] So. he who has done an atom's weight of good shall see itوَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ شَرًّا يَرَهُ {8} • [Shakir 99:8] And he who has done an atom's weight of evil shall see it.

  14. Sura Hajj (22:1-2) يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّ زَلْزَلَةَ السَّاعَةِ شَيْءٌ عَظِيمٌ {1} [Shakir 22:1] O people! guard against (the punishment from) your Lord; surely the violence of the hour is a grievous thing. يَوْمَ تَرَوْنَهَا تَذْهَلُ كُلُّ مُرْضِعَةٍ عَمَّا أَرْضَعَتْ وَتَضَعُ كُلُّ ذَاتِ حَمْلٍ حَمْلَهَا وَتَرَى النَّاسَ سُكَارَى وَمَا هُم بِسُكَارَى وَلَكِنَّ عَذَابَ اللَّهِ شَدِيدٌ {2} [Shakir 22:2] On the day when you shall see it, every woman giving suck shall quit in confusion what she suckled, and every pregnant woman shall lay down her burden, and you shall see men intoxicated, and they shall not be intoxicated but the chastisement of Allah will be severe. The earth and the mountain will be as follows; Sura al Waqiah (56:4-7) إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا {4} [Shakir 56:4] When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking,وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا {5} [Shakir 56:5] And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling,فَكَانَتْ هَبَاء مُّنبَثًّا {6} [Shakir 56:6] So that they shall be as scattered dust.وَكُنتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً {7} [Shakir 56:7] And you shall be three sorts Sura al Muzzammil (73:14) يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ الْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًا مَّهِيلًا {14} [Shakir 73:14] On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose.

  15. We can find most of what is going to happen in Sura al Takwir (81:1-14) إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ {1} [Shakir 81:1] When the sun is covered,وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انكَدَرَتْ {2} [Shakir 81:2] And when the stars darken,وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ {3} [Shakir 81:3] And when the mountains are made to pass away,وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ {4} [Shakir 81:4] And when the camels are left untended,وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ {5} [Shakir 81:5] And when the wild animals are made to go forth,وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ {6} [Shakir 81:6] And when the seas are set on fire,وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ {7} [Shakir 81:7] And when souls are united,وَإِذَا الْمَوْؤُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ {8} [Shakir 81:8] And when the female infant buried alive is askedبِأَيِّ ذَنبٍ قُتِلَتْ {9} [Shakir 81:9] For what sin she was killed,وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ {10} [Shakir 81:10] And when the books are spread,وَإِذَا السَّمَاء كُشِطَتْ {11} [Shakir 81:11] And when the heaven has its covering removed,وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ {12} [Shakir 81:12] And when the hell is kindled up,وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ {13} [Shakir 81:13] And when the garden is brought nigh,عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا أَحْضَرَتْ {14} [Shakir 81:14] Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared.

  16. The Trumpet • There will be a moment when a trumpet will be blown and this is what will happen; • Sura az Zumar (39:68) • وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاء اللَّهُ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُم قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُونَ {68} • [Shakir 39:68] And the trumpet shall be blown, so all those that are in the heavens and all those that are in the earth shall swoon, except such as Allah please; then it shall be blown again, then lo! they shall stand up awaiting • Sura al Haqqa (69:13-16) • فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ {13} • [Shakir 69:13] And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast,وَحُمِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِدَةً {14} • [Shakir 69:14] And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing.فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ {15} • [Shakir 69:15] On that day shall the great event come to pass,وَانشَقَّتِ السَّمَاء فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ {16} • [Shakir 69:16] And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail,

  17. A new life will begin Sura Ibrahim (14:48) يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ وَبَرَزُواْ للّهِ الْوَاحِدِ الْقَهَّارِ {48} [Shakir 14:48] On the day when the earth shall be changed into a different earth, and the heavens (as well), and they shall come forth before Allah, the One, the Supreme. Sura az-zumar Sura al az Zumar (39: 68-69) وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَصَعِقَ مَن فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَن فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَاء اللَّهُ ثُمَّ نُفِخَ فِيهِ أُخْرَى فَإِذَا هُم قِيَامٌ يَنظُرُونَ {68} [Shakir 39:68] And the trumpet shall be blown, so all those that are in the heavens and all those that are in the earth shall swoon, except such as Allah please; then it shall be blown again, then lo! they shall stand up awaiting.وَأَشْرَقَتِ الْأَرْضُ بِنُورِ رَبِّهَا وَوُضِعَ الْكِتَابُ وَجِيءَ بِالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالشُّهَدَاء وَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُم بِالْحَقِّ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَ {69} [Shakir 39:69] And the earth shall beam with the light of its Lord, and the Book shall be laid down, and the prophets and the witnesses shall be brought up, and judgment shall be given between them with justice, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.

  18. Resurrection Al Kahf (18:47) وَيَوْمَ نُسَيِّرُ الْجِبَالَ وَتَرَى الْأَرْضَ بَارِزَةً وَحَشَرْنَاهُمْ فَلَمْ نُغَادِرْ مِنْهُمْ أَحَدًا {47} Shakir 18:47] And the day on which We will cause the mountains to pass away and you will see the earth a levelled plain and We will gather them and leave not any one of them behind.

  19. Judgement Day Kingdom will be only for Allah Sura Hajj (22:56) الْمُلْكُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلَّهِ يَحْكُمُ بَيْنَهُمْ فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ {56} [Shakir 22:56] The kingdom on that day shall be Allah's; He will judge between them; so those who believe and do good will be in gardens of bliss. No secret will be kept hidden Sura al Haqqa (69:18) يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَى مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ {18} [Shakir 69:18] On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. There will be no relationship Sura Luqman (31:33) يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمْ وَاخْشَوْا يَوْمًا لَّا يَجْزِي وَالِدٌ عَن وَلَدِهِ وَلَا مَوْلُودٌ هُوَ جَازٍ عَن وَالِدِهِ شَيْئًا إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ {33} [Shakir 31:33] O people! guard against (the punishment of) your Lord and dread the day when a father shall not make any satisfaction for his son, nor shall the child be the maker of any satisfaction for his father; surely the promise of Allah is true, therefore let not this world's life deceive you, nor let the archdeceiver deceive you in respect of Allah.

  20. Court of justice of Allah will be established After all that, Allah’s court will take place where no one will be judged with justice. Sura al-Imran (3:30) يَوْمَ تَجِدُ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَّا عَمِلَتْ مِنْ خَيْرٍ مُّحْضَرًا وَمَا عَمِلَتْ مِن سُوَءٍ تَوَدُّ لَوْ أَنَّ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَهُ أَمَدًا بَعِيدًا وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ اللّهُ نَفْسَهُ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفُ بِالْعِبَادِ {30} [Shakir 3:30] On the day that every soul shall find present what it has done of good and what it has done of evil, it shall wish that between it and that (evil) there were a long duration of time; and Allah makes you to be cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and Allah is Compassionate to the servants. Our books will be brought forward Sura al Israa (17:13-14) وَكُلَّ إِنسَانٍ أَلْزَمْنَاهُ طَآئِرَهُ فِي عُنُقِهِ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كِتَابًا يَلْقَاهُ مَنشُورًا {13} [Shakir 17:13] And We have made every man's actions to cling to his neck, and We will bring forth to him on the resurrection day a book which he will find wide open:اقْرَأْ كَتَابَكَ كَفَى بِنَفْسِكَ الْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيبًا {14} [Shakir 17:14] Read your book; your own self is sufficient as a reckoner against you this day

  21. What will happen with our books has been explained in Sura al Haqqa (69:19-37) [Shakir 69:19] Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book:إِنِّي ظَنَنتُ أَنِّي مُلَاقٍ حِسَابِيهْ {20} [Shakir 69:20] Surely I knew that I shall meet my account.فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ {21} [Shakir 69:21] So he shall be in a life of pleasure,فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ {22} [Shakir 69:22] In a lofty garden,قُطُوفُهَا دَانِيَةٌ {23} [Shakir 69:23] The fruits of which are near at hand:كُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا هَنِيئًا بِمَا أَسْلَفْتُمْ فِي الْأَيَّامِ الْخَالِيَةِ {24} [Shakir 69:24] Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by.وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِشِمَالِهِ فَيَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي لَمْ أُوتَ كِتَابِيهْ {25} [Shakir 69:25] And as for him who is given his book in his left hand he shall say: O would that my book had never been given me:وَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا حِسَابِيهْ {26} [Shakir 69:26] And I had not known what my account was:

  22. يَا لَيْتَهَا كَانَتِ الْقَاضِيَةَ {27} [Shakir 69:27] O would that it had made an end (of me):مَا أَغْنَى عَنِّي مَالِيهْ {28} [Shakir 69:28] My wealth has availed me nothing:هَلَكَ عَنِّي سُلْطَانِيهْ {29} [Shakir 69:29] My authority is gone away from me.خُذُوهُ فَغُلُّوهُ {30} [Shakir 69:30] Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him,ثُمَّ الْجَحِيمَ صَلُّوهُ {31} [Shakir 69:31] Then cast him into the burning fire,ثُمَّ فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُهَا سَبْعُونَ ذِرَاعًا فَاسْلُكُوهُ {32} [Shakir 69:32] Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits.إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ {33} [Shakir 69:33] Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great,وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ {34} [Shakir 69:34] Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor.فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ {35} [Shakir 69:35] Therefore he has not here today a true friend,وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ {36} [Shakir 69:36] Nor any food except refuse,لَا يَأْكُلُهُ إِلَّا الْخَاطِؤُونَ {37} [Shakir 69:37] Which none but the wrongdoers eat.

  23. Allah will separate between good people and bad people Sura al Rum (30) (30:15) good people فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَهُمْ فِي رَوْضَةٍ يُحْبَرُونَ {15} Shakir 30:15] Then as to those who believed and did good, they shall be made happy in a garden (30-16) bad people وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَلِقَاء الْآخِرَةِ فَأُوْلَئِكَ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُحْضَرُونَ {16} [Shakir 30:16] And as to those who disbelieved and rejected Our communications and the meeting of the hereafter, these shall be brought over to the chastisement.

  24. This world is for preparation to akhera. • When is Qiyāmah/Ma’ad? • No one knows when Ma’ad is. • Allah says in the Qur’an, • Sura al Ahzaab (33:63) • يَسْأَلُكَ النَّاسُ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ قُلْ إِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ اللَّهِ وَمَا يُدْرِيكَ لَعَلَّ السَّاعَةَ تَكُونُ قَرِيبًا {63} • [Shakir 33:63] Men ask you about the hour; say: The knowledge of it is only with Allah, and what will make you comprehend that the : hour may be nigh • Sura an Naziat (79:42-44) • يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا {42} • Shakir 79:42] They ask you about the hour, when it will come.فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا {43} • Shakir 79:43] About what! You are one to remind of it.إِلَى رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا {44} • [Shakir 79:44] To your Lord is the goal of it.

  25. Conclusion All we need to do is to prepare for Ma’ad since we do not know when it will come. As Muslims we need to live a balanced life between this world and the One to come. To believe in Ma’ad is part of our belief in the unseen. We believe that Ma’ad will come based on two types of proofs, i.e. texts and intellect.
