Positive Behavior Support (PBS) at Neptune Middle School focuses on promoting desirable behaviors while minimizing negative actions. This proactive approach enhances the learning environment by encouraging students to follow health, safety, and classroom expectations. Central to PBS are the H.A.W.K. values (Good Habits, Accountability, Work Ethic, Kindness) and the use of rewards, such as the PBS Store and special events like the Fear Factor and Luau, to reinforce positive behavior. The school noted a significant drop in discipline referrals and increased student engagement.

In our first year of implementation, we received a PBS Model School designation for our 6th Grade Center. Our discipline referrals had decreased significantly and our recognition program was a hit with the students and faculty.
Fear Factor is held in October so students have had time to collect enough Sand Dollars to purchase a ticket. Our second semester event is the Luau. This is another extremely popular PBS Experience.
Set up and organization for the Luau requires dedication and a tremendous amount of teacher and student labor.
