  2. "Field school was one of the greatest and most informative courses that I have taken at X.”

  3. This is a field course... Sadly, we cannot accommodate people with mobility issues; you needn’t be athletic, but we do a fair amount of walking.

  4. Your Instructors Mark Pulsifer – Department of Natural Resources – StFX Mussels, Turtles and Technology

  5. You never knew how charismatic clams could really be!

  6. You will not want to part with those waders!

  7. Your Instructors Randy Lauff – StFX, NSMNH

  8. Entomology, both on land and in water, is the focus of this component.

  9. You have no idea at the sheer joy you will experience after catching the right bug!

  10. Saturday is exam day, and wind-down day! Sunday is off.

  11. We usually have one camp out…bring a sleeping bag and pad. We provide the tents…

  12. …and supper.

  13. We use simple technology…

  14. And advanced technology like motion sensitive cameras.

  15. You need to bring: • field book – available in the bookstore

  16. You need to bring: • $75 transportation fee (but you don’t need a textbook!)

  17. You need to bring: • tall rubber boots (not duck boots) • full length rain gear, pants, jacket, hat • sleeping bag, foamy

  18. Optional things to bring: • laptop computer • camera • gps • compass

  19. “[We had] a lot of fun...this is a great opportunity to get to know yourself and to learn a lot about biology outside of the lab so … do it!
