Updates on Early Years Service • From the end of Term 2 the Early Years Service will cease • 4 hubs – All Saints Area Hub – Karen Harper Hub Manager Wayfield Area Hub – Mel Kirk Hub Manager Strood Area Hub – RazGoodred Hub Manager Woodlands Area Hub – Sarah Adams Hub Manager • 9 Family and Well being centres and outreach – need to list the 9 centres • Strategic Lead – Early Help – Nikki Lloyd

SEND support from January 2018 • Early Years Service ends December 2017 – SEND moves to a new team • Head of Integrated 0-25 Disability Services – Wendy Vincent • Within this team relating to Early Years: ~ PASS Team Lead Teacher– Jane Elworthy ~ EP’s – Lead Julie Taylor ~ SES – GennyCherriman who manages the Caseworkers responsible for co-ordinating the EHC process

  4. SEND support from January 2018 • Early Years SEND Lead Teacher – Tina Arterton • Early Years SEND Practitioners: Dawn Adams Cindy Hitch Marina McGowan Lisa Omer Katie Ward Amber Whitefield • Admin Support: Julia Hanks Tina Newman

  5. Little Builders Programme Following 10mth – 1yr check Referred using ASQ Referrals triaged Child and parents invited to 4 sessions. Review Universal Groups Targeted Big Builders Pathway 4 Feedback to referrer and pre-school (if appropriate)

  6. Big Builders Programme Following 2yr – 2 1/2yr Health Visitor to refer to Meet and Greet using ASQ Referrals triaged Invited to Meet and Greet Universal Groups Targeted Big Builders – 4 sessions and review Pathway 4 Signposted to further targeted groups/referred to Children’s Therapy Team/Paediatrician From Jan 18, Big Builders to be run by Early Years SEND Team and 1 member of Child Development Team Feedback to referrer and pre-school (if appropriate)

  7. Physical Movement Questionnaire Settings complete referral with parents/carers. Sent to Early Years SEND Practitioner to triage If referral not appropriate call to be made to setting to discuss Assessment session with parent/carer offered Recommendations/handouts given out Feedback to pre-school

  8. High Needs Advisor Support Briefings 3 x year to PVI’s Termly cluster sessions/workshops for settings to access. (Areas covered include target setting, completing referral forms, moderation – This may not happen until Term 4 onwards due to capacity Termly SENCo Surgeries – These will be from Term 3 onwards SENCO’s prioritise and 1:1 with High Needs Advisor to discuss educational planning High Needs Advisor to use this identify difficulties/weaknesses and informs training/cluster sessions.

  9. Sending in information • EHC requests – I copy of information – School Based Plan report and reports from other professionals. Please Include the provision map – the SA process is 5mths from when the request was logged with SES. Please include headed paper or compliment slip with contact details. • No longer DMG – SEN panel to help parents understand process and the terminology used by professionals. • High Needs Funding – send in 2 copies of provision map and one of reports (need to discuss via telephone call or at a SENCo Surgery with the Early Years SEND Lead Teacher – Tina Arterton) Formats are on elearningat last with an example. • When High Needs Funding is agreed you will receive a letter – contact for queries is Tim Macklin SEN Business Manager on 331185. • Inclusion Support Funding – send in 1 copy of provision map and one copy of supporting reports.

  10. Additional support • Disability Access Fund – over 3yrs in receipt of DLA – Managers should know how to apply – the link will below has the form • https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/530331/dla1a-child-print.pdf • Don’t forget to ask parents if their circumstances have changed because if eligible you can access the Disability Access Fund wich will give you an extra £615 per year – remember this funding is for children over 3yrs. However if you know that a child is 2yrs old and in receipt of DLA then you have a ‘heads up’ to ask as they approach their third birthday.
