    4. What Do They Mean Cumulonimbus means that the air is unstable and a storm is forming. Stratus usually means that there is going to be rain or snow over a period of time. Cirrus usually fair weather but a front is on its way through. Cumulus means fair weather and lots of blue sky.

    5. Thunderstorms

    6. What Should You Do? Seek shelter indoors Stay away from metals and electronics Wait for the storm to pass before going outdoors If you cant be indoors, stay as low possible and stay away from trees and other tall objects

    7. Hurricanes

    8. Where To Go Best to evacuate the area and wait for the storm to pass Make sure you have fresh food and clean water. Do not go outside to avoid being hit by flying objects Board up windows and doors to avoid from being destroyed

    9. Blizzards Intense snowstorm Lots of snow, wind, and last for hours at a time Typically very cold Poor visibility

    10. Now What? Have plenty of fresh water and food Have a shovel, rock salt, firewood, and warm clothes in case the power goes out to keep warm Seek shelter and stay indoors

    11. Tornadoes Vary in strength but always destructive Very localized Extreme winds reaching speeds of 300 mph Funnel shaped clouds from thunderstorms

    12. Things To Avoid Seek shelter indoors away from windows and doors If outside find low, protected area Avoid down power lines and broken glass If possible get to a basement

    13. Floods and Flash Floods

    14. Stay Safe Get to higher ground immediately Beware of the surrounding weather Avoid all water because it may be deep and fast moving Avoid all electrical objects
