3. Opening Prayer • God our Father, we are truly sorry for those times we have sinned, because You are so good and loving and deserving of all our love. Objectives • 1.Students will recognize that the reason we ask pardon for our sins at the beginning of Mass is because sin always damages the relationship we have with God and His Church, the family of God. We do this in a prayer called the Confiteor, which means “I confess.” • 2. Students will understand that our prayers at Mass include the intercession of the Church in Heaven and on earth. • 3. Students will realize that it is only after we have expressed sorrow and have accepted responsibility for our sins that we can we move to giving praise and glory to God for His merciful love. One of these expressions of prayer is the Gloria.
