  4. Park size • 333,000 acres of land

  5. Park location • On the “big island” of Hawaii

  6. Park history • Founded on August 1, 1916 by act of congress was doubled in size in 1922 also by congress

  7. Primary attraction • VOLCANOES!!!!!!! • 2 Volcanoes in the park • Both active • Mauna Loa and Kilauea • 25 miles away from each other

  8. Kid friendly activities • Don’t be a lava loser (hiking)

  9. Junior ranger • Several programs for families with kids up to 12

  10. Interesting facts • Caves in the park are pretty much lava tubes • Lava tubes putting fresh molten lava to the flow front • It has the worlds most active volcanoes
