  3. 3 Groups, 3 Questions • Q1: Please consider more/other options for providing support to our organization to meet the increased opportunities and expectation on Wapes. • Germany, Japan, China, Croatia, European Union and the Honorary President • Q2: Please consider how we further can improve the added value of membership inWAPES • Korea, Argentine, the Netherlands, Turkey, Hungary and United Kingdom • Q3: Please consider what are the necessary steps that can help us move forward? • Congo-Brazzaville, Belgium, France, Mauretania, Mali and ILO

  4. Group 1, Supporting WAPES • The tasks of the regional consultants should be handled by experts of the member states/PES • One PES in each region to deal with conference organization • To enable members who have not yet contribute to WAPES take more responsibility

  5. Future Structure of WAPES strategy, representation, new memberships strengthen the role of Vice-Presidents (communication + organisation) SG leadership, overview of projects, representation, cooperation projects, coordination of experts Deputy* Assistant* *financed by WAPES

  6. Group 2,Added Value • Expectations and needs of the members and potential members should be identified (Survey questionnaire) • Strong sides? • What parts to be improved? • Missing features? • What type of activities?

Group 2,Added Value • Reputation and credibility of WAPES should be improved • Participation of higher level officers (e.g. Ministers) • More media • More international organizations • Communication and interaction with academy should be enhanced. • More research opportunities • Combination of practical issues with theory

Group3, Steps Forward • Preparing a report about WAPES’ position in the related countries • Identifying the expectations of target group and stakeholders • Enhancing communication among the members via meetings • Redefining the roles and duties of regional consultants • Participation of new consultants from the regions • Benefiting from other PES’ experiences and making them widespread • Strengthening the collaboration with stakeholders, especially with specialized agencies of UN

  9. Group3, Steps Forward • Additional questions on expulsion of some former members • What are the causes of this lack of interest? • What steps should be taken to prevent such expulsions? • What is the aim of WAPES? • How to enable cooperation between member PES?

  10. Group3, Steps Forward • In order to remove such disruptions • responsibilities of Vice-Presidents, • role of the Secretariat, and • role of the consultants undertaking excessive administrative task, • should be promoted and enhanced.

  11. Implications • Analysis of expectations • Reputation of WAPES • Diverse activities • Expansion • More members, more partners, more experiences • Capacity, experts from countries, assisting regional consultants • Re-organize WAPES • Decentralization • Re-definition of the roles
