  2. Firstly… What is ultraviolet? Ultraviolet means “beyond violet.” Ultraviolet light rays (UV Rays) follow visible light on the spectrum, the last color of which is violet, so this name makes sense!

  3. Characteristics UV Rays have slightly shorter wavelengths and slightly higher frequencies than visible light, putting it higher on the scale than it.

  4. UV Rays and Your Health UV Rays are actually sun rays. These rays can make you healthier (they make your cells produce vitamin D) but they can also have negative effects on your health. These rays can cause short-term damage such as sunburn, or long term damage like skin cancer. Prevent these with sunscreen!

  5. Everyday Life UV Rays can have more uses than just lighting your room. They can also create electricity through solar panels that can be used for powering homes, businesses, and cars!
