  2. Declarative Sentence…expresses a fact, wish, intent, or feeling. It always ends with a period. • Example: I enjoy English class. Declarative Sentence

  3. Interrogative Sentence…asks a question and always ends with a question mark. • Example: Is Lindblom the best school in the world? Interrogative Sentence

  4. Imperative Sentence…expresses a command, request, or direction. It usually ends with a period. If the command or request is strong, it may end with an exclamation point. • Example: Drop everything. Run for your life! Imperative Sentence

  5. Exclamatory Sentence…expresses strong feeling. It always ends with an exclamation point. • Example: I despise pessimism! Exclamatory Sentence

  6. Why is this important? • These sentences (1) add variety and interest to your writing and (2) create realistic dialogue • Furthermore, helps us understand aspects of our final essay prompt. • How do characters and Sophocles use language to persuade in Antigone? Each kind of sentence can be used in different scenarios to persuade people to act in certain ways. Why is this important?
