  1. THE PERIOD Cristian David Lozano Ana Yizeth Arias Arias FransiYulie Ortiz Claudia Patricia Valencia

  2. Can you imagine if there were no periods or commas? It would be so difficult for us to understand what we read!. Punctuation marks help us understand the value and meaning of words and sentences. It is not the same as saying: Maria walks jogs and runs fast. Maria walks, jogs and runs fast

  3. Theperiod(.) is a punctuation mark that closes sentences or phrases with complete sense. They are written withoutspaces separation character before but leaving space to start the other sentences or phrases. There are seven kinds of point: point and followed, full stop, end point, semicolon, 2 points, ellipsis and points abbreviation. Whatistheperiod?

  4. 1. Point and followed: Represents the point in writing the final pause: A prayer (point and followed) A paragraph (full stop) A text (end point) separates sentences within a paragraph. It means that you continue writing after point, the first word written in this case will go to uppercase, except for abbreviations.

  5. 3. End point: isalways placed at the end closing text indicates the end of a text. 2. Full stop: separatestwoparagraphswithdifferentcontentwithinthetext.

  6. it implies that what is spoken or read will or will approach a list of things. 4. Twopoints(:): Example: these are thethings I needforthetrip: onejacket, a dress, etc.. We also use a numbering before: the days of the week are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. .. Preceding a quotation: the famous novelist said: "I love writing for children."

  7. indicates an unfinished sentence, three  conditions are used:         1. to express doubt, fear or uncertainty 2. when the utterance is not terminated 3. to mean a bad word, without naming: fuc… Behind a suspension point we put a comma, semicolon or colon. 5. Ellipsis:

  8. Indicates a longer pause than a comma, but smaller than the point, use: In enumerations or sentences where the comma is used. Example: my cousin got the plates, silverware and glasses; I, napkins. 6. Semicolon(;):

  9. Used to shorten a word correctly spelling big orexpensive. Example: etc. Pag. Ahem. Sr. Mrs. whenabbreviating, for example calendar, months, titles, degrees, or days of the week, it should be remembered that only one space follows the period at the end of the abbreviation, and that no spaces follow the letters within the abbreviation. 7. Abbreviation Point:

  10. Example: U.S.A NOT U. S. A Ph.D. NOT Ph. D. If a sentenses concludes with an abbreviation that ends with a period, a second period should NOT be used . Example: This matter will now be referred to the I.R.S.
