  2. Details • Dates: April 12, 1861 (started). April 13, 1861 at 2:30 pm (when union surrendered). • Key individuals: Major Robert Anderson (Union), BrigaiderGeneral P.G.T. Beauregard (Confederate). • Effects: Started the Civil War. • Key notes: The battle lasted 33 hours, & took place at Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. The confederates won with no casualties. There were 85 Union troops, & around 500 Confederate troops. • Interesting facts: Two union soldiers died during a ceremony after the surrender, due to a cannon misfiring.
