Skeletal Muscle is a type of striated muscle that is attached to the skeleton. • Main function is to facilitate movement • Does this through contractions • Large bulk of cytoplasmic volume is occupied by the contractile protein fibrils actin and myosin • Multinucleated syncytium formed by smaller muscle cells. • Mitochondrion are more prominent in skeletal muscle cells • Mitochondrion create needed energy for cells in which primary job is movement Skeletal Muscle
